From Chas Laser.
The 2007 Florida Legislature passed and the Governor approved a tax-free
period where no tax is collected on certain back to school items.
The following is a list of questionable Back-to-School items that will
be tax free during this tax-exempt period.
Baby clothes
Diaper bags
Diapers, diaper inserts (adult and baby, cloth or disposable)
Perhaps some students will need these items for "Bring your kid to
school Day"
Employee uniforms
For student employees??
Fishing vests (non-flotation)
Hunting vests
A Must have item of fashion for students heading back to school.
Graduation caps and gowns
Why would students need this at the beginning of the school year?
Lingerie
no comment
Ski suits (snow)
Every Florida Student going back to school needs a Snow Ski Suit.
Sleepwear, nightgowns, pajamas
I've heard of sleeping in classes. Appropriate dress must be
required.
A complete list of tax exempt items can be found at the state Department of Revenue's Web site http://taxlaw.state.fl.us/taxlawmenu.asp and click on 2005 Sales Tax Holiday. You can see for yourself that I'm not making this up.
